Movie Reviews and Political Disgust
2004-10-06 - 7:03 a.m.

Better head space at the moment. However, I have been awake all of 20 minutes. We'll see.

He's not awake. This is nice. We'll see after he gets up.

In other news, I have watched three very controversial movies in the last couple days, partly because I wanted to see them; largely because I was looking for something to do other than any one of the thousand things I had to do.

So here's my brief review:

1. Super Size Me - I followed K-Lo's lead and got this one. Interesting, to say the least. Spouse scorned and scoffed, saying Morgan couldn't possibly have had all those medical issues happen that fast.

Me? I believe it. If he ate healthy and mostly vegan, shocking your body with that crap would be akin to eating aresenic three times a day. So yes, I think it could happen.

All I know is this. I feel worse than I have in months, I've been eating fast food a lot, I'm getting fatter again. Addiction to things like chocolate and cheese does happen - hence why I eat this shit when I am sad....looking to massage that part of the brain that says HAPPY.....Some of this movie grossed me out so bad, I don't think I will ever eat McDonalds again, and I am going to seriously try to avoid all fast food. We figured it out yesterday. If I want processed food, I'm ordering Schwanns. Its better for you, and while it seems expensive, the per serving cost is CHEAPER than fast food.

So, I was impressed, shocked and grossed out by Super Size Me. Enough to try to change my ways. Enough said.

2. Passion of the Christ - whether or not you believe in God, and Jesus as the Savior, go see this movie. And don't worry, if you aren't a believer, I don't think it will convert you. There isn't enough in it of the miracles or His words to probably convince you.

I thought the cinematography was beautiful. Very elaborate costuming and scenery...There are subtitles, not too many to make it burdensome to see the movie. The language is Aramaic and Latin...and if Mel had dubbed it in English, it would have lost all impact.

I know some people were offended by the extreme abuse heaped on Jesus in this movie, and by the amount of blood shown.

Face it people, we get told the sanitized version of things in the bible. He suffered, he died. Nothing about lashings until they peeled all the flesh on his back off. No no, we dont want to shock potential believers, just scare them into compliance....whatever, people are used to the sanitized mental image of what went on. This movie, I would suspect, gives probably a more realistic view of things....Go see it. Outstanding vision of the director. A chapter of history on film. Its about a man...its not going to force feed you religious propoganda. Just go see it.

Oh lord, guess who just woke up! I hope he goes back to sleep. I just want to be left alone for a while.

Ok. Movie 3.

Farenheit 9-11

Ok now. Don't get all up in arms. (No pun intended.) Let it be known: I don't care for Michael Moore. I haven't caught any of his other movies, but his frequent appearance in the news, usually being obnoxious...his using the Oscars as a platform for political outcry...these types of things irritate me and therefore I don't care for him much. I dont care what his political views are, I just resent his trying to force feed them to us.

That being said, I rented F911 simply because it has upset the Republican right so badly...it has offended so many. The Saudi's banned it in their country. Why? What's so bad about this film? I had to know.

Well. Mr. Moore uses mostly media footage to state his case. I haven't followed all the in's and out's in the media about Bush's connections to this that and the other. I don't pay as much attention to things as I should, and I know this. What I do know is this: Anytime something negative were to come out in the press, 9 times out of 10, it gets buried. Quickly. I am referring to Bush's ties to all things oil, Enron or Halliburton....We all know he is in bed with Halliburton, but most people now use the word Cheney when they say Halliburton.

But I digress. My simple point is this: Go get this movie. Mr. Moore narrates, and actually spares us having to see him all wound up and dancing on his soapbox. He presents his case, from his point of view, without getting anal about it. I applaud him.

The ties our current leaders have to Saudi oil money is appalling. There have been some conspiracy theorists in this country stating that the whole 9-11 horror was a political tool engineered by our leaders. Mr. Moore never even suggests this at all, but it would not suprise me to find it was true.

Get in bed with Saudi money, especially the BinLaden family. Get them to use their outcast child to raise a Jihad in America by the bombings....Raise American outrage, go hunt down the one family member they dont care about. Turn this into a quest to conquer Iraqi oil. Saudi Arabia doesn't have an army big enough to conquer Saddam and his country. Who does? We do. Its all about the oil people. Bush is a liar and a theif. I know Moores POV is terribly slanted, but he convinced me of what I already suspected. Our current administration is evil on a par with no other we have ever seen in this country. And I don't believe the GWB is inherantly evil. He is the borderline idiot puppet that others, including his father, are pulling strings on to make do their will. All in the name of money.

What will history books have in them in 100 years? The world's most evil scourge: Ghengis Khan, Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler.

Bush?

Only time will tell.

All I know is, I am voting for Kerry in November.
